چکیده

This paper is devoted to analyze an improvement in the performance of WLAN (Wireless Local Area Network) systems introduced by space and space-time diversity, as well as spatial multiplexing. These MIMO (Multiple-Input MultipleOutput) techniques are approved in the latest 802.11n specification. In order to perform the experiment, a Matlab application that simulates WLAN physical layer has been developed.

Spectral Efficiency Improvement in IEEE 802.11n MIMO-OFDM WLAN Communication Systems using Compact Space-Multimode Diversity Stacked Circular Microstrip Patch Antenna Arrays

The support of high spectral efficiency MIMO spatial-multiplexing communication in OFDM-WLAN systems conforming to IEEE 802.11n standard requires the design and use of compact antennas and arrays with low correlation ports. For this purpose, compact spacemultimode diversity provisioning stacked circular multimode microstrip patch antenna arrays (SCP-ULA) are proposed in this paper and their per...

Performance Analysis of Multi User MIMO System with Block-Diagonalization Precoding Scheme

As the demand of high quality service in next generation wireless communication systems, a high performance of data transmission requires an increase of spectrum efficiency and an improvement of error performance in wireless communication systems. In this paper, we propose a multi-user multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) system with cyclic del...

Opportunistic Scheduling in IEEE 802.11n WLAN

In wireless local area network (WLAN) environment with independent user fading, at least one user is likely to undergo very good channel state at any time, and this is called multiuser diversity. For high system performance, a transmission scheduler at the LLC layer is required to exploit this multi-user diversity by opportunistically selecting a feasible user with a good channel, and it is ref...

Modeling and Analyzing MAC Frame Aggregation Techniques in 802.11n Using Bi-dimensional Markovian Model

Increased expectations and demand for higher rates led to the development of new physical layer technologies in Wireless LANs. However, the current medium access control (MAC) needs to be improved to fully utilize higher physical-layer transmission rates. Several aggregation mechanisms have been recently proposed to improve the MAC layer performance of 802.11n. In this paper, we analyze some of...

Performance Evaluation of Multicast Video Distribution using 802.11n in Realistic Environments

This paper exploits Application Layer Forward Error Correction (AL-FEC) based on Raptor codes to achieve for reliable video multicast over 802.11n multiple-input multipleoutput (MIMO) channels. The system performance and cross-layer optimisation parameters are analysed for spatial multiplexing (SM) waveforms under different channel conditions and quality of service requirements. Results show th...
